New Public Safety Documents Archive and Narconon Arrowhead Police Records

Scientology drug rehabs and the police

Are Scientology drug rehabs a threat to public safety? Over 20 FOIA Requests filed in the past six months seem to indicate they inflict a burden on local public servants for a repetitive list of issues.

When the internet grew legs and began protesting the Church of Scientology globally in 2008-09, the idea of filing open record requests to obtain additional sets of Narconon police records was tossed about by activists on more than one occasion. We were again reminded of the usefulness in such disclosures when the Say No To Narconon in Warburton grassroots campaign set out to prevent the relocation of the Narconon Australia facility. They successfully used a FOI summary of police records from the Melbourne rehab to sway the Yarra Ranges Councillors decision to reject Narconon’s application in 2014.

So when we made the decision to harness the power of MuckRock News for doxing one of the Church of Scientology’s biggest revenue streams en bloc on this website, police records and Scientology’s flagship drug rehab facility, Narconon Arrowhead in Oklahoma were two of the most tantalizing targets for Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) data mining. This was, in part, due to the long term interest in activist circles for more law enforcement data combined with the massive amount of media attention the tragic deaths connected to the Oklahoma rehabilitation center received in recent years.

Delicious DOX

A records request was filed with the Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Office on March 11, 2015 for information pertaining to any incidents that occurred at Narconon Arrowhead in Canadian city. The initial disclosure came in a few weeks later, was originally given passing mention on The Underground Bunker blog (second item), and later featured on the MuckRock News blog.

These same records are now individually archived by date on this website under our new Public Safety category of documented resources for further research. This preliminary set of public safety documents will be supplemented in the near future with additional records on Narconon Arrowhead as well as other police, fire and ambulance service disclosures that we have obtained from over 20 different agencies. Most of these soon-to-be-released documents have never seen the light of day! Subsequently, this enormous stash of (old and new) records will be released here on Narconon Reviews and in conjunction with a new MuckRock Project Page on the topic of “Scientology Drug Rehabs” that we have been graciously invited to use for raising the bar on our ongoing record collection effort.

Publication Series Disclaimers

Before diving into this disclosure, we have a few words of caution for the average layperson reading these records: the police codes, abbreviations and other jargon can be really dense to parse and interpret if you are not familiar with cop talk.

To ease the pain of translating the documented public safety resources we release, we have developed a Police Communication Codes reference page that will be continually updated as we publish more disclosures. We recommend readers take a few minutes to review the explanations provided for understanding the nuances of public safety jargon before diving headfirst into the Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Office records on Narconon Arrowhead that are indexed below.

Another cautionary reminder about police records in general; this information should be taken in the same context as a police blotter column in a small-town newspaper – these public record disclosures provide a cursory report of law enforcement activity in a local community and are not necessarily evidence of guilt. Just because the police respond to calls alleging nefarious deeds, without investigative journalism and/or a related lawsuit, documented complaint or formal report as a means of independent validation for the issues reported, the actual incidents described in these records might only be presenting one-side of what is likely a complex situation.

Terrific work! More proof that these facilities should be shut down.

Thanks Mary! But I’d like to also give Ann an equal amount of praise here. While the new Public Safety category of documented resources shows up here seamlessly integrated with everything else, there was a lot of website wizardry that went into making those mostly transparent enhancements happen!

And because of the awesome platform we run on, once that enhancement was in place it made doing this dox drop, and all future dox drops for police and EMS records, a breeze!

      So thank you Ann! /SALUTE

Thanks to Heidi and Ann for bringing this blog post and a boat load of documents to the attention of the general public. People need to be aware that these police reports, state inspections and survey responses are not isolated incidents. Through even a brief review of the documents on this site, including the many lawsuits, a trend of similar incidents emerges. Through their efforts, vulnerable people struggling with addiction may be better informed and avoid the Narconon snare.

    WireService.ca Press Release (09/26/2015)

Researchers from Reaching For The Tipping Point publish documents exposing Scientology’s drug rehab network, Narconon.

The parents used their retirement money to pay Narconon and help their son, and stated: “These people prey on the desperate and uninformed, and they are very good at it. People only go to any of these websites as a last resort and are very vulnerable and desperate for help. It is unconscionable that they be exploited, especially by a representative of a ‘church’.”
