Former rehab patient states that she and her husband were misled about the facility amenities and other program details. When the wife entered the program, she was denied her antidepressant medication rather than being weaned off of it properly, and suffered extreme swelling of her feet and ankles from prolonged sauna use. Additionally, she also wasn't provided with clean sheets, towels, soap or ice. She left the program after phase 1 but before normal program completion, and their requests for a refund of unused fees and the balance of her personal account were ignored.
This consumer alleges that David Dolan-Rabideau made several misrepresentations about the program at Narconon Freedom Center (NFC). David assured her that NFC provided 12-step-based treatment, centered on Christian values, and a staff of licensed professionals. She was further reassured by NFC's promise of around-the-clock security. The reality turned out to be quite different. First, she claims the program was scientology-based. Next, the counselors were recent graduates without treatment experience and drugs were flowing within the facility. The first 2-3 days of "treatment" consisted of smoking cigarettes at a picnic table. One of the counselors relapsed and was placed in detox with her daughter. On the financial front, Jeannie in accounting told her that insurance would cover 70% of $27,000 quoted for treatment. The consumer questioned several facets of her contract with NFC, making some notations before signing, with Jeannie's consent and knowledge. She never received a copy of the contract. Later, she received an invoice for $30,000 and an unsigned credit card receipt by mail.
