Public Safety

Documents released in response to FOIA or open records request made to a police, ambulance, fire or other agency that provides law enforcement or emergency response services. Public safety records can vary in both format and scope. Some Public Safety records will provide detailed reporting documents for a wide variety of incidents, while others are strictly a summary listing for certain event types. The sources for Public Safety records can be local, county, state or federal agencies. For a "cheat sheet" to the numeric codes and acronyms used in the documents, see Police Communication Codes.
